From tablets and eye drops to nasal sprays and allergy creams, there are a range of options to choose from. You may need more than one treatment to manage multiple symptoms, for example eye drops and a nasal spray.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT HAYFEVER RELIEF:

Generally, it’s best to start treating hay fever with a tablet. Check with your pharmacist which one would suit you and build on that to obtain the best relief.

If you experience multiple hayfever symptoms, you might find you need more than one hayfever treatment to help relieve your symptoms. You could try:

One a day tablets for everyday relief: If you regularly get allergies, why not try taking allergy tablets daily to help prevent allergy symptoms occurring. For example Cetrine (contains cetirizine) or Telfast (contains fexofenadine hydrochloride)

TOP TIPS TO REDUCE YOUR EXPOSURE TO POLLEN:

  • When the pollen count is high, try to stay indoors and keep your windows and doors shut
  • Try putting a smear of Vaseline around your nostrils to trap the pollen
  • Wear wrap around sunglasses to protect your eyes
  • It’s best to shower and change your clothes after you’ve been outside to wash any pollen off and avoid walking in freshly cut grass areas
  • Avoid hanging clothes on the line, dry indoors if possible. This will avoid circulating pollen falling on clothes and being brought back into the home
  • You could try pollen filters in your car’s air vents and have them changed every time your car is serviced
  • A humidifier in your room may help to reduce airborne pollen and dust
  • Consider reducing exposure to cigarette smoke, it can worsen hay fever symptoms

Always ask our pharmacist for advice and read the label and/or leaflet in your product.
